On the week leading up to Christmas, Lint Group joined forces with Niksham SWAT and their Homeless Projects in their local areas of Ilford and Stratford.
Recent statistics from housing charity, Shelter, reveals Newham as having the highest rate of homelessness in England. Data collected from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government have estimated around 14,611 people in temporary housing or sleeping rough in Newham alone. Lint Group’s Managing Director, Rizz Patel, and the management team wanted to contribute directly to the homeless in their local boroughs of Redbridge and Newham
Both evenings saw queues building as they served over 100 people across the two nights. With The Express reporting “potentially hazardous winter conditions” this year, a combination of hot food, non-perishable food and a rucksack filled with winter essentials were distributed.
Niksham Sikh Welfare & Awareness Team (SWAT) are a West London based charity whose focus is on providing unity and support to financially disadvantaged communities through projects which not only make a difference to people’s lives in the short term but also support long term prospects. In 2009, Niksham SWAT trustees identified the increasing difficulties for the homeless community of over 200 people their local area of Southall, Middlesex. Their efforts then expanded to East London and now provide food and clothing for the homeless, once a week, in Ilford and Stratford.
Throughout their 25 years, Lint Group have instilled and cultivated a culture of compassion within their teams. This has led to Lint Group supporting many charitable causes, most notably their sponsored climb up Mount Snowdon, which has raised £80,000 for an on-going campaign to support Abdullah Aid’s Indonesia Tsunami Emergency Appeal.
